The Charity Concert

I haven't notice that it was almost a week since the charity concert was over. I am guilty to know that I haven't posted any update in my blog.
When it comes to attendance, it was not that succesful as expected but when it comes to supporter it was satisfying. Though, some had promised to give but it seems nothing has landed in my palm. Although, definitely some will give even the show is over because they believe that charity doesn't end there.
I would like to thank the band "Bird's Eye" and "Jive5" for giving their talents and time to perform in that evening.
I will have a follow -up show  and that's the one you need to watch out because it is meticolously planned out from the lesson learned in the past event.

I would like to thank the following sponsors for making the event possible: Jollibee - Buhangin Branch, Coca-cola, Greenwich, AZB Marketing, Arlene Ganaban, Alma Albaira, Agnies Miras-Alviola, Aldwin Basunillo, Bessie Salomon, Bisayababe, CIC Cebu batch 85,  Emilyn Villadores, Franco Caballero, Elenita Quizo, Marian Erbacher, Noel Ayos, Mananay Family, and Mara Diaz-Rivera

A Night Reunited with my High School Friends

Protected by Copyscape Online Infringement Detector

One Friday night of June 04, 2010. I had a chance of meeting old classmates from high school way back in 1987. It was barely more than 23 years ago since we have built companionship of tears and laughters. We remain friends until now.

We had a dinner at Dusk Till Dawn Restaurant along Torres St., Davao City.

We were supposed to meet at 7 pm but I showed up late at almost 9 pm because of heavy rain prior the time and besides I was hesitant to join due to my current illness in my right toe that made me uncomfortable to walk. I didn't want to miss a thing so I went there after many attempts by Floie and Nenette of inviting me to join. How long I have waited that moment to be reunited with my close friends back from high school.

We were only six friends present then namely Wewen Stella-Baro, Nenette Abao-Arceo, Novy Dalguntas-Espanola, Lilian Mangco-Dalangin, Floi Dayaguit and I.

I’ve seen some of them frequently since we lived in the same community but some of them moved out since we graduated. After 23 long years since graduation I’ve met Lillian and Novy again.

What else could you expected of an old friends when met again?

We talked about our current life, unresolved issues, reminiscing high school life and ex love life as well.

It seems like nothing had change about us except of age. I can still see those significant and prominent characters of individual.

Well, other than that each have their happy family and blossoming career now.

Lillian is a plain housewife of an international seaman from Batangas and had two kids. But now she had a chance to go out for many years of hiding from her shell; She is a teacher by profession and presently taking up her masteral in special education.

Nenette is married also to an ex-seaman but now running their own business.

Novy is currently working in City Government and her husband is a police officer of 911 Rescue Unit.

While Floi is still single like me, she works as Development worker of a globally owned NGO’s based in Davao.

Wewen is a public school teacher back in our place where she graduated as well.

Speaking of Wewen, she was the teacher I was referring about in my previous post. We had a chance to talk about her needs. The group agreed to support the institution. I was not included in the said group because I graduated from other school. But I will still continue my advocacy on my own effort  for her institution as promised.

We missed Liezl Presilda-Curato who’s doing a good business in Cebu with her family and Jinky Vocal who’s doing her teaching career in Tagum or Panabo City (I am not so sure) as well. Jinky got married already with kids now but I forgot her family name.

Liezl expressed through her facebook account of being “missed out” of the fun we had. I may include her photo here to have a glimpse of her beauty except for Jinky who had no current photo to post. I hope to secure one to be included here.

She would have been present if only she was in Davao. I am sure how much she missed all her high school classmates.

Though some of my friends thought that I am into banking but that was only a part time job because through that work I could also be able to meet sponsors. I can manage my own time. My business the past 2 years was so inactive here in Davao City. But now, I am starting to move on because trimedia is my life.

After dinner, we proceeded to Durian Park to consume a delicious durian which is the king of all fruits.

We had so much fun while savoring the different varieties and at the same time blending with confession of unrevealed issues courtesy of Nenette.

But time did not permit us anymore to farther our discussions. We need to separate our ways again. I hope we could still set another time of gathering like that moment.

It was already late; why those married people kept on checking time. It was time to  adjourn. Nenette was picked up by her husband and went home ahead of us. The rest  headed to Lillian’s place. We didn’t stay longer at her place; we all wanted to send her home safely since she is not used to go out at night especially for fun. Except for that night, she compromised for old time sake.

From Lilian's place we sent off Novy home. The three of us Wewen, Floi and I went home ahead for we lived in the same village. Of course, while we were on the way home Wewen’s husband was checking on her whereabouts, but in few minutes we arrived home safely.

Thanks to Floi for her ride service to sent us one by one at home safely.

Who had sent Floi home? She was left going home alone driving with her good car… I would like to thank her also for the idea and financial contribution for having that meeting possible. Hasta manana!

Smoking Child

Protected by Copyscape Online Infringement Detector

Can you imagine that?

At the age of 18 months old he learned to smoke.

A two year-old old Indonesian child addicted in tobacco. It was reported in ABS CBN featuring the toddler started smoking at the age of 18 months when his father gave his first cigarette.

The entire world who watched the video got shocked. It drew attention to all health experts worldwide that Southeast Asian country’s growing tobacco addiction of children be investigated.

There is something wrong with the child if he can’t take nicotine; he has tantrums and he will beat his head on the wall if his parents refuse to give his daily dose of nicotine. Now, he can consume 40 sticks a day. He is addicted to smoke.

How come his father could say this child is healthy? It is clearly a child abuse considering that he is risking the health of the child. The parents has big responsiblity to this child.

In 2009, a health law recognized that smoking is addictive and pushed the anti-smoking restriction in all public places and cigarette packages.

Secondhand smoking is dangerous to our health especially to the children. Children can afford to buy a stick of cigarette consindering it costs only few cents.

This scenario is also happening in our country, there are youngster under five years of age who have started smoking. Beginners before in smoking cigarettes were under 19years old but now it’s down to seven according to study.

A father may let their child to buy cigarette for his consumption and out of curiousity the child try to smoke not knowing the danger it brings.

The parents have a big role in disciplining their children in all aspect. Teach your children the right thing and tell them what's the consequence when doing wrong. Children supposed to live a normal life. It should be started at home but contrary to this father which pushes his child to addiction.

Do you think the advertising industry has something to do with this?

Now the child was advised by the government to be in rehabilitation center.

BENEFIT CONCERT for SpEd Class (Special Child Education)

Protected by Copyscape Online Infringement Detector
I am planning to hold a benefit concert in our community. The beneficiary would be the Special Education Class in T. Awad Elementary School. There were more than 10 regular students under this program currently enrolled. They don’t come from a well off family. They are just ordinary students with ordinary desire to go to school and learn.
I salute to my former classmate and friend who dedicated herself to teach these children patiently. We know for a fact it is not easy to raise normal children how much more in teaching and guiding these special children that really needs a special attention and dedication.

It was merely two years ago when she came to me asking for some donation or financial support for her department; I didn’t know exactly what are the specific needs but as far as I know, there is a big need for them and I promised that I’m going to hold a special show for the benefit of this institution.

I hope this time, it can be materialized and I’m hoping to talk to potential sponsors who have a heart to support the event.

I will be convincing also some of my good friends to donate on this good deed. I hope you will be touched with this endeavor, please don’t hesitate to email me at adinoel2000@gmail.com

At this moment we haven’t talked about this again since I can’t go out too see her and she is busy perhaps for enrollment is going on.

I might as well post this here for the mean time and eventually I will tell you guys of the development. I’m going to list down all the specific needs.

HOME ALONE BUT NOT LONELY

Protected by Copyscape Online Infringement Detector

I am alone since my mother and other siblings went on vacation to Cebu and Bohol 2 weeks ago. I can’t go with them since I am suffering from this eczema, exposure to sunlight can trigger this. They will be gone for a month. I made myself busy in online activities.

Actually I am not all alone; They left me with Sandy, Karen, Vivian and Mingae. Oops!, they are not human beings. They are dogs. Sandy is the mother with 2 daughters Karen and Vivian; we named them after the role played by Maricar Reyes and KC Concepcion in Lovers in Paris; they were born during that air time. They are Japanese breed dogs. Mingae is our tiger look-a-like cat.

A week ago, Karen delivered 3 cute puppies. I need to take care all of them.

Now, I am not relax and free as you could imagine because I need to cook and feed for them. They are like human beings; they ate 3 times a day. If I don't feed at the right time, all noise and destruction of things around like breaking the pot of plants, biting slippers and other stuff will be done to catch my attention to give their desire. They know exactly it is time to eat.

Mingae will not eat without a viand. So, I need to buy a kilo of fish and flavored to cook. Sometimes I need to open a can of sardines.

I feel like a dog, what they eat is what I ate also, or vice versa; the food I served is not left overs, it is freshly cook supposedly for human consumption, so obviously we eat the same food. Anyway, dogs are men's best friend.

Tending them is so much fun but with little caution with my skin condition, animal dander and fur may worsen it.

Life is full of responsibilities – I know this will over much too soon.

Nokia Cellular phones Immitation

Protected by Copyscape Online Infringement Detector

Recently a raid was conducted by Criminal Investigation Group (CIDG) to a Chinese owned shopping mall in Davao City confiscated thousands of fake cellular phones and accessories. The vendors of more than 30 establishments took by surprise when the raid happened at around 11 in the morning.

That place was really known for selling fake cellular phones and accessories. You can buy all kinds of Nokia products with a saving of at least 60% price of the original one.

Speaking of Nokia, the company filed a complaint to the authority against the establishment. They made surveillance for 30 days before the warrant served.

How will you know the product is an immitations? Simply, the fake products do not have a sticker from National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) and mostly comes with a dual SIM card feature. It did not pass the quality control and standard.

People would settle for this besides affordable in price it's trendy, the feature is almost similar to the original one in the market. The difference will not be detected anymore unless checked caustiuosly and announced candidly it is fake.

The Nokia ran after their Intellectual Property rights which has something to do with the industrial and lay out design of integrated circuits and the selling of its product using the brand name.

The shop owners are worried in losing their business in the event that all the stocks were confiscated. The store was closed due to violating existing law and the building owner left losing as well.

I don’t know exactly what would be the penalties for the shop owner for committing this crime.
