One Friday night of June 04, 2010. I had a chance of meeting old classmates from high school way back in 1987. It was barely more than 23 years ago since we have built companionship of tears and laughters. We remain friends until now.
We had a dinner at Dusk Till Dawn Restaurant along Torres St., Davao City.
We were supposed to meet at 7 pm but I showed up late at almost 9 pm because of heavy rain prior the time and besides I was hesitant to join due to my current illness in my right toe that made me uncomfortable to walk. I didn't want to miss a thing so I went there after many attempts by Floie and Nenette of inviting me to join. How long I have waited that moment to be reunited with my close friends back from high school.
We were only six friends present then namely Wewen Stella-Baro, Nenette Abao-Arceo, Novy Dalguntas-Espanola, Lilian Mangco-Dalangin, Floi Dayaguit and I.
I’ve seen some of them frequently since we lived in the same community but some of them moved out since we graduated. After 23 long years since graduation I’ve met Lillian and Novy again.
What else could you expected of an old friends when met again?
We talked about our current life, unresolved issues, reminiscing high school life and ex love life as well.
It seems like nothing had change about us except of age. I can still see those significant and prominent characters of individual.
Well, other than that each have their happy family and blossoming career now.
Lillian is a plain housewife of an international seaman from Batangas and had two kids. But now she had a chance to go out for many years of hiding from her shell; She is a teacher by profession and presently taking up her masteral in special education.
Nenette is married also to an ex-seaman but now running their own business.
Novy is currently working in City Government and her husband is a police officer of 911 Rescue Unit.
While Floi is still single like me, she works as Development worker of a globally owned NGO’s based in Davao.
Wewen is a public school teacher back in our place where she graduated as well.
Speaking of Wewen, she was the teacher I was referring about in my previous post. We had a chance to talk about her needs. The group agreed to support the institution. I was not included in the said group because I graduated from other school. But I will still continue my advocacy on my own effort for her institution as promised.
We missed Liezl Presilda-Curato who’s doing a good business in Cebu with her family and Jinky Vocal who’s doing her teaching career in Tagum or Panabo City (I am not so sure) as well. Jinky got married already with kids now but I forgot her family name.
Liezl expressed through her facebook account of being “missed out” of the fun we had. I may include her photo here to have a glimpse of her beauty except for Jinky who had no current photo to post. I hope to secure one to be included here.
She would have been present if only she was in Davao. I am sure how much she missed all her high school classmates.
Though some of my friends thought that I am into banking but that was only a part time job because through that work I could also be able to meet sponsors. I can manage my own time. My business the past 2 years was so inactive here in Davao City. But now, I am starting to move on because trimedia is my life.
After dinner, we proceeded to Durian Park to consume a delicious durian which is the king of all fruits.
We had so much fun while savoring the different varieties and at the same time blending with confession of unrevealed issues courtesy of Nenette.
But time did not permit us anymore to farther our discussions. We need to separate our ways again. I hope we could still set another time of gathering like that moment.
It was already late; why those married people kept on checking time. It was time to adjourn. Nenette was picked up by her husband and went home ahead of us. The rest headed to Lillian’s place. We didn’t stay longer at her place; we all wanted to send her home safely since she is not used to go out at night especially for fun. Except for that night, she compromised for old time sake.
From Lilian's place we sent off Novy home. The three of us Wewen, Floi and I went home ahead for we lived in the same village. Of course, while we were on the way home Wewen’s husband was checking on her whereabouts, but in few minutes we arrived home safely.
Thanks to Floi for her ride service to sent us one by one at home safely.
Who had sent Floi home? She was left going home alone driving with her good car… I would like to thank her also for the idea and financial contribution for having that meeting possible. Hasta manana!
